Transform your physical materials into ultra-realistic digital assets.
Our scanning technology captures true optical properties for unmatched rendering quality.
Switch to Interactive 3DWe are MatScan—an innovative company founded by the creators of the VRscan format. As official partners of CHAOS, we develop specialized hardware and comprehensive services for digitizing physical objects. Equipped with our own prototyping laboratory, a diverse range of scanning devices, and trusted manufacturing partners, we deliver state-of-the-art material capture solutions.
Our solutions are engineered for industries that demand uncompromising visual fidelity:
Manufacturing: Textiles, foils, wallpapers, tiles, and floorings.
Design: Automotive styling, interior, and architectural design.
Digital Media: E-commerce, video game development, and real-time visualization platforms.
Research: Data optimized for raytrace engines (V-Ray, Corona), real-time Z-buffer rendering, and AI training data arrays.
WS Scanner (The Universal Standard)
Utilized in over 80% of our projects, this scanner features a single perpendicular viewing angle combined with multiple illumination angles. It offers the perfect balance between scanning area, resolution, file size, and processing speed.
DS Scanner (For Extreme Complexity)
Built with a dome of up to 109 camera angles and over 200 collimated lights, executing over 20,000 shots per sample. Designed for generating BRDF models and capturing highly complex optical properties like holograms, chameleon colors, car paints, and pearlescent celluloid.
We capture multi-angle light data directly from physical specimens. From this raw archive, we generate specialized shaders and textures tailored to your specific pipeline:
.vrscan Format: Uncompromising photorealism and compact size, eliminating subjective manual adjustments.
PBR Textures: High-quality individual maps (including anisotropy), ideal for standalone use or packaging into .mdr (MDL Archives).
Legacy Shading: Classic map sets supporting traditional shading environments.
Raw Scan Data: Unfiltered capture archives perfectly suited for R&D and AI model training.
Physical samples must be perfectly flat. Any repeating patterns must fit within the maximum scanning area. Total scanning and processing time ranges from 30 minutes to over 3 hours, with a typical A4-sized sample taking about 1 hour.
